How does it feel to write about a real serial killer? I've been asked this too many times
to count, but I am not the first author to tackle it, nor will I be the last. This is obviously
not a new subject matter and like everything else in life opinions form from
perceptions. Some of us have a strange fascination for the abnormal. Why do these
people do these things? What shapes their minds and characters?

Serial killers are a different breed, mandated by the governing principles of their own
private wars. Some are garden variety, some are copy cats and some are incredibly
unique.

I'm certainly not a minority in this realm; documentaries, films, books, articles (the list
goes on and on) are a hot topic these days and not just for consumers. Law
enforcement officials and forensic doctors are constantly delving for more information
on what makes the serial killer tick for the obvious reasons of prevention and capture.
To deny the road into their minds and deny an opportunity to save more lives is
irresponsible as a society.

But it goes further.

Incarcerated, these "caged animals" have lost their power to instill fear in society, and
so then the inquiring public mind wants to know -
WHY? Why did you do that? In a
strange twist of fate some individuals develop a deeper, more personal and intimate
fascination with these men and women. Gamers now have a plethora of software to
live out fantasies of the ultimate warriors - no matter how dark.
To control the dark
side, one has to
understand the dark side.
I've put together a semi-extensive list of books written about serial killers. If there's a title missing that you have read and found informative
please
CONTACT me and let me know what title it is, who the author is and I will add it.
